It’s Time for Embracing Diversity – Being Latino in the Tourism Industry

Our Embracing Diversity webinar series creates space for honest conversation that uplifts diverse voices, shares the lived experience of New Yorkers of all ethnicities, promotes allyship and accountability within NYC & Company and our membership, and builds meaningful alliances across our industry.

In our last episode, we highlighted the Latino community in NYC—their offerings to businesses and consumers and contributions to the City at large.

Our focus on the Latino community continues with our next episode, Being Latino in the Tourism Industry. In this webinar, we will delve into the stories of three Latino tourism professionals and how they advocate for their communities while selling Latino-oriented experiences. Additionally, Eric Ramos of Big Apple Walks will share a neighborhood spotlight on East Harlem, also known as El Barrio, and Ráfael Sanchez of the Repertorio Español will discuss the significance of Latin American, Spanish and Hispanic American theater.

About the It’s Time for Embracing Diversity Series

New York City is one of the most diverse destinations in the world—a place where cultures connect and people are encouraged to be unapologetically themselves. Embracing Diversity is a webinar series that explores the rich cultural stories of our destination, showcases the strength of our member product and highlights the diversity of the five boroughs—the immutable spirit and infinite experiences that make visiting NYC so transformative.

Embracing Diversity provides essential information for professionals looking to speak to NYC in ways that are equitable, inclusive and authentic. To view our first seven webinars, click here.

As we continue the webinar series, we will focus on other diverse groups in NYC, exploring how these communities and experiences overlap and intersect with one another, and how each comes to life in the City.
